North Cal Wood Products is located in Ukiah, California, has been family owned and operated since 1984. Situated on 15 acres of land about 2 hours north of San Francisco, North Cal has an inventory of several million board feet of antique redwood and Douglas fir timbers, siding, and flooring. Our fifty man processing facility can mill and machine our raw materials into any shape needed, including notching and shaping beams for assembly, milling siding and flooring to customer specifications, and constructing components and subassemblies. We are able to grade lumber and provide structural, architectural, and decorative material.

The reclaimed material in our inventory has come from a variety of sources, generally buildings over 100 years old. The northern California region was the natural habitat of the grandest forests in the world with Coastal Redwood trees growing over 350’ tall with a diameter of more than 27’ at the base. These trees lived for as long as 2200 years, and when the early loggers entered the area more than 150 years ago, these trees covered millions of acres of land. Lumber reclaimed from these early construction projects is simply remarkable. The grain is straight and clear, free of defects. We have timbers in sizes up to 36”x26”x50’ long. We can supply 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, and larger timbers, and our inventory is continuously growing and changing.

In today’s marketplace, with the strong emphasis placed on Green Building, North Cal’s product line can help you by supplying completely recycled materials for your projects. When building according to the LEED’s program, nearly all of the material in our inventory has a platinum rating.
